Possession, by Brandy Ayers

Possession (Blue Line, #2)

One look and he fell…

Officer Bryan Coy was known as the Middleburg playboy. There wasn’t a night of the week that you didn’t find him at the Blue Line Bar picking up buckle bunnies. But then he gets assigned what most cops consider the crap detail. Set up a speed trap outside the home of a woman that complains nonstop about speeders in her neighborhood. Hand out tickets. Shut the lady up. Easy.

Then he sees her, running from her house to grab something out of the car. But that brief glimpse changes something inside Officer Coy. Now he can’t get her out of his head… or his heart. If only she’d give him a chance.

But he’d need to work for it…

Lexis Johannes has centered her whole world around her little boy. Dating, men, sex are a thing of the past. She’s happy with her life. But the smooth talking cop that keeps popping up at her curb is making her second guess everything. Long after the reckless drivers had all slowed down, Officer Coy is still there, watching out for them.

Letting him in terrifies her. But so does letting him slip away. Can she find room in her world for the larger than life police officer?

The drugs and crime are piling up in Middleburg, but Coy won’t let it touch what belongs to him. Despite his need to possess Lexis and protect her and Ash, trouble finds its way next door.

This clearly should NOT have been read while at the office but I will re-read this at least another two times I enjoyed it that much.  The flirting was mature and the sass from both characters highlighted this story.  Another wonderful quick erotic tale when you only have a short amount of time to read.

Love, Passion and Power: Part 2, by Whitley Cox

Love, Passion and Power: Part 2 (The Dark and Damaged Hearts #2)

The moment Kendra Black gave into temptation and took Justin Williams to bed she knew there was no turning back. There was something in him that she needed, that she longed for —safety, he made her feel safe, he made her feel cherished, he made her feel like for once she finally had a shot at love and a happily ever after. A damaged heart —so much like her own, she was drawn to him like a moth to a flame, an attraction so strong she would risk burning her wings just to be near him.

Now they are preparing to move in together and start their life. She’s eager to play sidekick to her superhero, to embark on new adventures both in and out of the bedroom. Kendra’s opened her heart, but trust doesn’t come easy, and love takes two hearts to make it work. Can Justin find a way to win over the love of his life, before her old demons come creeping back and cause Kendra to cut and run?

What a powerfully emotional “Kendra and Justin” focus. The insecurities were more prevalent, the personal speeches more profound, and the sex was unbelievingly erotically charged. I fully enjoyed seeing how two strong and independent people stayed true to themselves as well as to each other even through the many obstacles placed before them. “Dark and Damaged” has never been so enticing.
